Bulls readying La Vine contract player nears landmark

What will be for the first time in his career, Zach La Vine is close to entering unrestricted free agency in the NBA, with this set to be triggered in just a few months time.

For La Vine, who is in the best form of his career, this perhaps could not be better timing, with the player set to finish his five-year $78 million contract with the Chicago Bulls, who are preparing to renegotiate.

The Bulls matched the Sacramento Kings’ offer for him in 2018, though in the years since La Vine has been viewed as one of the most underpaid players in the NBA based on his form.

Zach LaVine - Chicago Bulls

Impressive stats for La Vine

Over the course of four seasons, the player has posted an average of 25.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists and it is these kinds of numbers that will likely see him and his team seek a max-level contract.

Currently, the Bulls will be able to offer the soon-to-be 27-year-old, a five-year contract at their maximum level, with the two-time All-Star at the top right at the top of his game – seemingly a smart move.

This could equate to a $245.6 million contract over five years (just over $49.1 million per year).

All-star cast at Bulls for next season?

La Vine has consistently impressed since his move to Chicago and is accompanied by a roster that includes a number of top players that have inspired the Bulls back to winning ways this season.

Having landed All-Star DeMar DeRozan who currently is up there in the scoring charts for the Bulls this season, in addition to Nikola Vucevic, who has also been prolific, it could certainly be a great campaign next time out.

Whatever the resolution is for La Vine, his representatives at Klutch Sports will no doubt be trying to secure the best possible contract for the player’s future, though do not be surprised to see this one drag out.
